Dr. Navruzov defended his MD thesis entitled “Surgical treatment of recurrent rectal fistulas” in 1982 in Moscow.

He defended his DMSc thesis entitled “Treatment of chronic colonic stasis” in 1988 in Moscow.

Academic title: professor (since 1993).

He is a member of the scientific school of academician Vladimir D. Fedorov. He became a specialist under the supervision of such scientists as academician U.A. Aripov and academician G.I. Vorobiev.

Dr. Navruzov has co-authored 2 course books for medical students, 10 monographs, more than 900 research articles, 15 manuals, 20 popular science publications, and more than 30 inventions.

A total of 34 PhD/MD theses and 18 DMSc theses in surgery and oncology were successfully defended under his supervision.

The results of his research are used by many surgeons in Uzbekistan, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, etc. Dr. Navruzov is a honorary academician of the New York Academy of Sciences. The methods, developed by Dr. Navruzov, allow achieving good treatment results in patients with gastrointestinal disorders. 

Dr. Navruzov was involved in training of young healthcare professionals and created the school of colorectal surgeons of Uzbekistan. He is a member of the International Association of Surgeons, Association of Colorectal Surgeons of Asia, as well as ESMO, ASCO, ECCO, ECCA.

Dr. Navruzov is fluent in Uzbek and Russian.

He attended more than 10 congresses of surgeons of CIS countries, more than 50 international congresses, more than 60 international research conferences in surgery and oncology.

Dr. Navruzov has passed all stages of research, methodical, and professional training and has become a highly professional specialist. He has an extensive work experience in public healthcare institutions and demonstrates perfect organizational skills in setting goals.  He is highly disciplined in the development of mechanisms for successful implementation of various tasks in accordance with the governmental strategies and policies. In 1980, Dr. Navruzov coordinated the creation of the Division of Coloproctology, which was first in Uzbekistan. Later, this Division was transformed into the Republican Research Center of Coloproctology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Center performed both routine clinical and research activity. 

Dr. Navruzov may objectively assess the situation and takes responsibility for cardinal decisions. He is a highly educated, even-tempered, sympathetic, and sociable person; he is always available for dialogue with employees, students, and other people applying to him. He has earned the respect of the team and authority among others.

In his pedagogical activity, Dr. Navruzov relies on common human values and national spiritual heritage; he pays significant attention to the spiritual and moral growth of employees and students. Dr. Navruzov actively promotes healthy lifestyle; his professional activity corresponds to the basics of morality, ethics, spirituality, culture, and national traditions of the Uzbek people.

Dr. Navruzov initiated and coordinated the development of a national program and a plan for the specialty “Oncology and Medical Radiology” in accordance with qualification characteristics and state standards. During his work in the Republican Cancer Research Center, Dr. Navruzov performed a number of organizational and structural reforms aimed to bring up highly professional and highly spiritual doctors.

Dr. Navruzov has initiated the implementation of novel technologies into both clinical and educational practice, including new diagnostic methods for early and accurate diagnosis, which ensures choosing an optimal treatment strategy. Moreover, he was involved in the implementation of integrated methods for evaluating the proficiency of oncologists, which eventually has a positive effect on thinking and philosophy of oncologists.

Dr. Navruzov actively supports integration of science and clinical practice in order to teach young oncologists and surgeons professional practical skills and to improve their logical thinking. During his leadership, all 14 regional oncology dispensaries were taken under special control; responsible researcher from the Republican Cancer Research Center provide them methodological and practical support.

Dr. Navruzov coordinated 3 congresses and 14 research conferences with international participation during the last 5 years. Researchers in the Institute perform various investigations in 9 areas and were awarded governmental grants.  

Dr. Navruzov pays particular attention to the social protection of employees and PhD students.

During his leadership in the Republican Cancer Research Center, Dr. Navruzov managed to reach a qualitatively new level of international collaboration. Currently, the Center collaborates with many institutions in Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria, and USA in educational, research, and practical spheres.

Dr. Navruzov is actively engaged in social activities. He is a member of a Specialized Council at the Republican Center of Surgery named after academician V. Vakhidov.

Dr. Navruzov is constantly improving his professional skills and implementing new technologies into routine practice. He is demanding of himself and others; he has the ability to clearly formulate the concept, goals, and objectives, as well as to assign clear tasks to subordinates. Dr. Navruzov supports initiative and creative approach and creates a healthy climate in the team, which is one of his strong features.
